I can confirm it was Big Bang that I traded with you can not fake everything on his profile and he scammed me out of my knife and awp I have been trying ever way to contact him so if someone reads this let him know the police have been contacted and are currently working on legal action I can drop the police if he returns my items to me but until then he is looking at up to $20,000 fine and up to 2 years in prison

This must be your first time encountering an impersonator. Sadly, Faking a profile is exactly what they do. An impersonator will copy a trusted individuals information where it suits them, and flub everything else so it suits their scam. In trading with the Real Big Bang, there are multiple steps he puts you through so you feel secure and know it is actually him you are dealing with, one step being contacting him on the site before trades. If you want to see something really scary, search his name in the community Hub.

And I understand your frustration over the lost item, but nothing can be done whether you contact steam or the police. In trading, being you're dealing with a scammer or not, Steam puts you in charge of your own items. To trade, you have to confirm you want to do what you are doing. If you follow my link on Scam FAQs a bit up in this post, you will see they find all trading scams avoidable.

This does not mean we should not try to stop these scammers! More and more people fall for them each day and lose their pricey items. BUT it is all about reporting the RIGHT person. Too often is the actual person whom was impersonated accused because A. Their account was the one being mimicked, and B. It actually isn't too hard to find them, people only look harder after their scammed unfriends them. Luckly, an unadd does not remove all traces of a scammer. They will still appear in your trade history. So below I will list the steps on how to recover the correct profile, so that we may stop yet another Big Bang Theory scammer.

    Open up your inventory
    Click Trade Offers
Click either Incoming or Sent Offers History (whichever pertains to your trade)
Click the image of the person you traded your items with [ This is your Scammer ]
Report this profile, and if you'd like, Right click to copy page URL and send it over here to our forums so we too can report.

Sadly there is not much to be done after a scam aside from reporting the scammer. If you care to do some reading, here is the Trade Scam FAQ off the Steam support page. Long story short, being that you have to verify a trade about three time, they won't give you your items back. What with middlemen, it's basically: you didn't trust Player1 to trade one on one, why would you trust Player2 at Player1's recommendation? It's always wise to do some research, versus blindly trusting a name.

Hey there Joe1.
It is likely you did in fact fall victim to an impersonator. As stated on his profile, Big is currently only dealing with TF2 High End items; however impersonators always like to change the information to fit their needs... To verify who you actually traded with, check the Steam ID or URL of the player you dealt with versus that of the one linked with Big Bang Theory's profile here. One site many players use to verify the identity of claimed middlemen and admins is SteamRep. Note that many impersonators will copy as much information as possible to look very similar to the person they mimic.
Of course, be sure to report the scam and/or impersonation so that others might not fall victim.

I have one free Upgrade to Premuim Gift in my TF2 Inventory and would love to give it to one of you who needs it. What this gift does for those who are unaware, is it makes is so you are now free to trade, granted 300 backpack slots, access to all the crafting blueprints, and have the chance to receive better drops.

Since I'm hoping y'all will pass the word around to folks who want/need a premium account, lets do this in the form of a raffle. Winning is going to be simple. All you have to do is leave the name of the user you wish to receive it (you, a friend, a relative, etc..) as a reply. This person MUST be a member of the BBG community; be sure they join the steam group page before listing their name. Each name is only counted once. On July 17th, one of the submitted names will be randomly selected. Good Luck to everyone who enters Smile

More interactive could be fun, gives you somewhat of an objective. I'm not even sure how many admins the server has right now, but I'd assume many are ones who have admin in the other servers and also play minecraft time to time. 2 - 3 sounds fine, the server only holds 10 at a time after all. Perhaps if it became very popular and needed sort of a cycle of admins more would be required, but with the numbers coming in a few sounds fine.

I remember last I played it wasn't, but the groups page says it is a creative server. Actually may be better, the last time I was on I had to ban two kids for griefing. There had been a lot of players who were given creative mode by a different admin, so they had plenty of goodies to steal. Was a lot to contend with. Looking at gametracker though there hasn't been more than two people at a time on in a month, servers just about dead :/

Getting reports that the ff2 boss Bread Spy's rage is still crashing the server in Magazine. I don't play a lot of freak, but I've been hearing about this for a while now, get it fixed please. Remove the boss until the issue is solved.

I've spoken with Scorching on the matter and hopefully we won't see it again.

A reminder to all admins, best said by Big himself to another admin...
"As an admin, you really should not need to be using the abilities very often and the position is to help keep the server in control if someone is totally misbehaving.   We had this issue with other admins in the past, of using admin powers for amusement (excessive slaps,  forced voices, etc.)

I find that most the time when I am on the servers, I don't even need to use admin powers, so if someone is using it often, it is probably too much.
...
It is challenging to balance being in a position of power vs everyone feeling like you are still one of them and the key is not using admin stuff unless you have to."

Remember this the next time you open your menu or type a command; you are there to help with problems, not be one.

^ indeed. What with Bigs announcement, I would think removing the server could be an option too. Especially if it isn't receiving traffic. I know that is where my vote would have gone if it was up there. I would understand multiple ff2 servers because we'd usually have 1.5 full, but mvm.. I always assumed it was full not because it was BBG, but because the lobby will throw people into any server that has room and fits the criteria. I don't think custom is on that sheet unless you straight search for it. A clone could get players in theory yes, but being mvm I doubt it would net us any regulars

And may i suggest A Jailbreak server?
it is one of the fun servers players tend to be within.

We've actually had a Jailbreak server. It never really hit off and was changed to a different gamemode (Deathrun I believe..).

I feel bad because I haven't been getting on the servers much myself recently, first it was work, then I was just tired and rather play single players to unwind, now I literally cant play an online game because my computer has decided the internet isn't it's friend and wants to be slow. Once it's all fixed up I will make time to get on.

As far as dropping some servers, I would have to agree with you. There isn't a point in keeping so many if we aren't getting traffic, especially when most are just a second or third copy of an existing server/gamemode. The site will be a sad loss, but in the end it is always your call. Realisitcally speaking, I think the site is as slow as the servers. The only people who seem to post are Admins and VIPs; player and randoms input is rare as they don't stick around long enough to make a login. The loss of these things does not mean we can not stay a community though. We would just have to utilize and focus more on the Steam Group page, hoping to revisit the idea of a site and more servers if we can boost numbers (if we keep this thing going).

BBG has had a fantastic run, and that is all thanks to you. You've provided so many of us with a place where we could meet amazing friends, make plenty of fun memories, and have a blast with both regulars and strangers, because thats what you got when you joined a BBG server. You've kept this sucker going for a long time now, it ends when you want it to. Thank you so much for what you've given

It doesn't work! It announces the command in chat, but when typed it says it isn't allowed.
